Galerie Artes
On those days that you feel the need for some me-time (or to put simply, get away from everybody and maybe everything), this might be the solution!
This is highly recommended for those who live within the Katipunan area and would just want to get out of the house and try something new. These are somewhat “walkable” distances but if you can’t trust Manila streets, I highly suggest you take a short drive! (Although if you have the guts to go walk it, I think you should because these places are REALLY REALLY near each other!) Also, you will notice that the two places are FREE (!!!) while the restaurants suggested have a Php 75-150 for 1 meal price range.
The first stop is the farthest, Galerie Artes. It is relatively new, on the second floor of Place One (beside Wham burgers). It is a small art gallery with limited space, enough for quick viewing alone. It is only one room and has paintings on every side of the wall. During my visit, it had only one artist’s work featured. The gallery is meant for those who will buy the paintings, hence the small space and plain environment. Although visiting to appreciate is also most definitely welcome!
Viewing is free (YAY!) and it is open at around 11am-5pm, depending whether someone is there! For those who want to have an appointment to view the paintings featured, you may contact them through
